With the Frisco League Tournament right around the corner we are looking at the teams in this tournament and one is really sticking out, and those are the Laquey Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets said goodbye to Emmalee Ackley at the end of last year however this team is returning four starters along with sophomore Addison West fighting for a starting varsity position. Many people have said they really look forward to seeing this team really work on the court this year and the things they are able to accomplish. The Lady Hornets are in the gym any chance they can get and are putting shots up every hour of the day. With that being said the VFW of Laquey donated money for Laquey High School to purchase a new shooting machine.    The Lady Hornets only have one senior this year and that is Aurora Rice. When talking to Aurora she states “I am super excited to see what this team can accomplish this year, we love putting in the work and enjoying each other's presence at practice.” The Lady Hornets are also returning four varsity juniors including, Adrienne Miller, Alexis Shelton, Olivia Boevingloh, and Emma Tolbert. They also return their head coach Micheal Parten stating “I really think we have a ton of potential. The team has worked incredibly hard the last couple of years to put themselves into position to become contenders in the conference and whichever district we end up in. The season will hinge on our ability to deal with adversity. Basketball is a long season and our schedule is set up to test us every night..” We also look to their assistant coach Britnie Mattheis she states “I have pretty high expectations for the season. I’ve seen all the hard work the girls have put in, in the off season and regular season and I’m ready to see the hard work pay off and go win a championship!” The Frisco League Tournament is November 26- December 3rd, 2022 being held at the Laquey gymnasium. Good luck to all teams! With all of that being said we hope to see the Lady Hornets accomplish great things this season!
