As we prepare for potential severe weather later today, the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our priority. In anticipation of such situations, we want to assure you that we have comprehensive plans in place to address them effectively. Here are some of the procedures we have in place: The Laquey School District has designated specific areas and established procedures for all students and staff to follow during a weather event, ensuring everyone's safety in such circumstances. In the event of severe weather occurring during dismissal time, we urge you not to jeopardize your safety by driving to the school. We will promptly communicate any changes in timing, dismissal procedures, and pick-up arrangements via multiple channels, including calls, texts, emails, our website, and social media. Should the entire school population need to relocate to designated safe areas, please understand that it may not be possible to pick up your child or receive an immediate response if you call the school. We kindly ask for your patience and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff. During inclement weather conditions, our bus drivers will exercise extra caution, which may result in delays from their regular schedules. While we will communicate significant delays, please anticipate minor delays across all bus routes during such times. We will monitor the forecast and provide you with any necessary updates to ensure that you remain well-informed and prepared.

The Richland R-IV School District, in an effort to provide more opportunities for their students, has contacted the Laquey R-V School District to discuss a co-op in boys and girls soccer. A co-op between schools would allow Richland students to participate with Laquey students to complete a team. One major factor to this endeavor is to ensure that both schools will have enough students to compete in boys and girls soccer. This decision is not taken lightly and there are many components to this decision. There will be a Special Board Meeting on Monday May 6th, 2024. If you would like to be a part of this decision please join us for discussion and decision making on May 6th at 6:00 p.m. If you would like to send an email due to your busy schedule please send emails to btowns@laqueyhornets.us or dmatlock@laqueyhornets.us. Emails will be read outloud to the board and public during the meeting. For those that attend there will be a 3 minute time frame for each individual for their comments and questions. Thank you for your continued support of the Laquey R-V School District

The Laquey School District is very proud of the 5 students who were part of this year's GOCAPS program. This program is an amazing opportunity for our students, they develop countless knowledge and build lasting relationships. Alexis Shelton , Baleigh Leckrone and Matthew Mendoza worked together on their medical strand capstone project "Look Fresh Feel Fresh" a hygiene lesson that they worked on for school age students and were able to use resources in and around the area to put together hygiene bags for the Laquey students. Also representing Laquey in the GOCAPS program this year was Hannah Thier and Emma Tolbert and they also were part of the medical strand and focused their experiences on the veterinary side. Hannah and Emma worked together on their capstone project "HE HE Hygiene" working and providing dental hygiene for the family pet. Each graduating senior involved in the GOCAPS program received a cord that will be worn at their graduation. Several scholarships were presented from local area business and medical establishments. Congratulations to Alexis Shelton and Baleigh Leckrone who each received a $1000.00 scholarship from Lake Regional Health Systems. What a fantastic night for these young adults and the representation they showed for themselves, their families and the Laquey school district.
