Spotlight on Excellence
This is a dedicated time each month during our School Board Meeting to celebrate students, staff members, and the community who make Laquey such a special place.
At the August School Board Meeting, our first Spotlight on Excellence was Christie Chastain!
Four years ago, Christie volunteered to take over the Back to School Bash to ensure students were prepared for the upcoming year. Throughout the year, she contacts local sponsors, writes and submits grants, organizes logistics, and coordinates with Mrs. York to order school supplies. Thanks to her hard work, every student who walks into the Back to School Bash receives the supplies they need to start the school year off right.
Thank you, Nurse Christie, for making sure every student starts the year successfully!

Open house for grades 7-12 will be Thursday, August 20, from 5-7 pm. Freshmen orientation begins at 5pm in the high school cafeteria with Senior orientation following directly after.

Open House information
2026 Map Scores will be sent home at Open House.
Your last first day is right around the corner! Senior Sunrise is Wednesday, August 26. Contact Mrs. Marlin or your senior Student Council members if you have any questions.
Our Transportation Department is looking forward to a great year ahead and officially started things off with their annual M.U.S.I.C. training.
A big thank you to the Plato School District for hosting our bus drivers.
Today, we officially welcomed our newest staff members to the team! We are looking forward to a wonderful school year ahead and are excited to support them as they grow in their new roles.
