The hornets pulled out a 3-2 victory in the inaugural Pulaski County Showdown.
Goals for the lions came from Jonny Carriger, and Matthew Resch. The Lions had a first half lead of 1-0, scoring their second goal 10 minutes into the second half widening their lead to 2-0.
But the hornets would just not give up. Laquey found their first goal from Jaxon Preble with 12 minutes remaining to cut the lead to 2-1. Then with 5 min to go Blake Douglas scores the equalizer making it 2-2 to bust the game wide open again.
With 45 seconds remaining Laquey was able to seal the deal on a PK from Owen Metscher ending the game 3-2.
The Laquey softball team will be wearing pink for the Parkview game on Oct. 1, but orders for shirts are due Sept. 7th

We would like to thank our local VFW Post 3168 Francis J. Lynch Memorial for their donation of a new United States flag and a new Missouri State flag to be flown at the Laquey School District for the 2026-2027 school year. Officers for VFW Post 3168 hosted a flag raising ceremony during our Elementary Open House and will see that our former flags are retired with dignity and respect. Spotlight on Excellence
This is a dedicated time each month during our School Board Meeting to celebrate students, staff members, and the community who make Laquey such a special place.
At the August School Board Meeting, our first Spotlight on Excellence was Christie Chastain!
Four years ago, Christie volunteered to take over the Back to School Bash to ensure students were prepared for the upcoming year. Throughout the year, she contacts local sponsors, writes and submits grants, organizes logistics, and coordinates with Mrs. York to order school supplies. Thanks to her hard work, every student who walks into the Back to School Bash receives the supplies they need to start the school year off right.
Thank you, Nurse Christie, for making sure every student starts the year successfully!

Open house for grades 7-12 will be Thursday, August 20, from 5-7 pm. Freshmen orientation begins at 5pm in the high school cafeteria with Senior orientation following directly after.
